Family Reunion 2010!

Well since Greg had to spend the last week golfing 9 rounds of golf with friends in North Carolina...I had to find something just as fun.






So I decided to head down south with him and visit my brother and sister-in-law, Dustin & Cami, in Raleigh and of course Mom and Dad wanted to come too! We decided since we had 6 out of the 9 family members present, it could be considered a "family reunion". We had a great time but we sure missed Cory & Sara, and Kelsie!

We saw the beautiful gardens and chapel at Duke University


And went to the beach and made a sweet sand castle. Well not much of a castle but it was sure well protected!


And spent lots of quality family time together talking, eating, and of course playing games! It was fun to play Ticket to Ride again, even though I got last place...

I'm thankful for...

We are having a blast teaching our Sunbeam class at church and it's taken some time but I think they're finally getting used to the idea that Primary is fun even though they have to hold still and sit in "big kid" chairs and unfortunately there are no toys.

So the last several lessons have been focused on things we're grateful for (based on The Creation) such as the earth, water, trees and plants, animals and birds, and one Sunday as we opened the lesson manual we discovered,

"I'm thankful for fish"!

Maybe it's just me but I thought it was so funny. Of course I'm grateful for everything God has given us but really? A whole lesson on our gratitude for fish? For someone who doesn't like to eat fish and has never really had a pet fish it took me a little while to think of why I truly am grateful for fish.

It turned out to be a really fun lesson as we went fishing and colored our fish but I think I learned a different lesson that God really has given us everything and I need to be grateful for all we have been blessed with on this earth. So I am grateful for fish...because:

-They're pretty

-Some people like to eat them and if I was starving I probably would as well

-They make snorkeling a lot more fun

-They're easy pets to consider in the future when my husband and children are trying to convince me to get a dog

-And...I'll admit I probably should be more like them, being satisfied with life even if all you do is just swim around all day and try to remember what happened 10 seconds ago
