Merry Christmas!

Who needs to buy a Christmas tree when you have such a creative and talented husband like I do?

And Happy New Year! We're loving all the fun snow we're getting here in Utah and it's not even near as icy cold as Ohio!

Oh and being close to family is sure fun too! But we miss our Ohio family!

Well it has definitely been a while, like usual, and I wish I could say I've just been way too busy but really I'm just lazy. Greg and I are loving being here in Utah and spending time with family and enjoying living the part-time employment life and spending lots of time together! One of these days I'll get moved up to full time and then Greg will be going to school and I'm sure I'll be missing these times!

We had a wonderful Christmas and are excited for 2011!

Dear U of U

Thanks for nothing.

We got sweet tickets to your "gonna be awesome" game vs TCU and it was not awesome. Zero touchdowns until the 4th quarter and we had left by that time.

But we had fun dressing up and supporting you anyways! Better luck next year.

The Newest Addition to our Family

Well I knew this had been coming for a while (I think every wife has this coming at some point) but don't ask me what caused us to head to Best Buy on Greg's day off last Friday and come home with this:

I'm not one to care much for a nice, HD, new, big TV but Greg has been wanting one for a long time so I set a few rules and he found the perfect TV. One that fit all of my criteria and one that he was really excited about (if you can't tell by his face). So you may find us watching Avatar on blu-ray tonight. Can't wait.

Plus we can always return it if we find a better deal in 30 days so why not?!

Waiting for fall to come...

Fun things we've done lately and forgot to take pictures of...
  • Extreme mountain bike riding down the hills in Alpine (fun for Greg and scary for me who thought I was going to die)
  • Hiking up to Donut Falls, one of our favorite, easy hikes (not so easy the first three times we hiked it and couldn't find the right trail)
  • Playing tennis at the brand new park by our house and realizing that it wasn't that fun when Greg wins every time
  • Perfecting our Nertz skills with the parents, at least twice a week
  • Enjoying our favorite restaurants that we missed so much in Ohio: In n Out, Cafe Rio, and hopefully soon Zupa's and Rodizio's Grill
  • Building our own little bathroom downstairs, learning each step as we go. (I'm so grateful to have such a handy husband)

Road Trip

1700 miles

2 tightly packed vehicles and 1 trailer

3 drivers

27 hours of driving

8 stops at the gas station

2 hours of pouring rain and lightning

1 hour of thick fog

6 hours of sleeping at the hotel

0 showers

1 smoking truck

2 books on tape and lots of music

1 lost trailer wheel bearing 100 miles from home

1 nice man with an empty trailer

AND WE ARE SO HAPPY TO BE HERE IN UTAH!

We were very blessed to make it here safely and hope to never move again.

...at least for another year.

Adventures in Utah

This post is oh about a month late but I just wanted to share all the fun times we had in Utah! We spent a few days visiting with friends and even made it up to the cabin then it was off to Lake Powell with the family! Love that place! And we had so much fun with everyone who was able to make it...parents, siblings (Kelsie for 2 days!), lots of cousins, and of course we missed Dustin and Cami!

Friends

It was SO good to see these girls! And baby mark...

Family

Lake Powell!

We had such a great time visiting that, yes it is true...WE'RE MOVING TO UTAH!

We've decided that after our adventure here in Ohio for a year it's time for some different adventures in Utah with the people we love and have missed! We're moving in just a few weeks and are very excited!

August 1st

On August 1st we celebrated our first anniversary and I am so grateful to have been married to my amazing husband for a whole year and even more grateful that we get to be married for eternity!

What I love about my husband that I may or may not have known when we got married...
-He will do anything to make me laugh, whether this is by his unique songs, ballerina dance moves
-He is a flowers and chocolate kind of guy- not for him, for me- not just for Valentine's day or Anniversary but just because and I LOVE this so much
-He will let me cuddle next to him, even if maybe he isn't in need of my 100 degrees of warmth at night
-He knows me better than I know myself sometimes and is patient with me when it takes me a while to figure out I'm being completely crazy
-His spontaneity makes life so much more fun than my plan to have every detail planned out for the rest of our lives
-He is just so perfect for me and I could never ask for a more patient, selfless, fun, and loving husband to spend the rest of eternity with!

For our anniversary this year we spent the night downtown and went to dinner at Cheesecake Factory and a movie.

I worked hard to make him a mini replica of our wedding cake (and it really did take effort for someone who doesn't do cakes) and he surprised me with a beautiful diamond necklace (which I wish I had gotten a picture of...I will) with the diamonds that originally came in my engagement ring before we switched them out. I love it so much and was completely surprised!

And when we were in Utah a few weeks earlier we took a bite of our not-packaged-very-well-completely-freezer-burned wedding cake! Good memories...

One year down and it went by so fast!! I really feel like before too long we'll have ten years behind us but I just can't wait.

Why I love Ohio in the summer time?

Taking a short trip to Cincinnati for a weekend (compliments of Priceline) and enjoying a night/day out on the town with Greg. Finally got to experience the hometown of Babes in Toyland!

It was definitely fun to explore the city, just a tiny bit scary walking around looking for food at 10:00 pm, especially once we started walking past dark alleys and a few nice homeless people.

Frisbee golf with my talented husband (who makes up for my lack of talent), awesome friends, and beautiful scenery with red barns in the background (definitely Ohio)

The pool! I have definitely enjoyed our little pool at our apartment complex for enjoying the sunshine or going on intense swimming adventures with Greg and our goggles.

My birthday of course! I love my new Magic Bullet Greg gave me to make delicious smoothies, and had fun enjoying ice cream cake with family and friends!

Free Family Night at COSI, our fun little local science/discovery/cool place, thanks to the Bastians for joining!

Get it? (we're spelling COSI)

Camping! Well not quite yet but we've got plans to sometime soon...but we did set up our new tent in Greg's parents' backyard and I had fun! And we've definitely made good use of our "camping chairs", does that count?

I've definitely been enjoying my new job working a few nights a week and not doing the whole 8-5 thing...don't know how the rest of you do it!

And now we're off to Michigan to spend the weekend on the lake! Happy 4th of July!

My new obsession

I don't know if I should even post this because it's probably kind of lame and immature but there's nothing else too exciting to post about...

So my latest purchase from the $1 Target aisle was the best one I've made! There was a cute little pot with soil and grass seeds and I just thought it was kinda fun for a dollar...

But I was so excited to wake up the very next morning and see this!

I couldn't believe how fast it grew and so I kept watching and it has been so fun to see it grow so fast every single day...I swear I could sit and watch it get taller before my eyes. So here's the grass two days later.

And so of course while we were at Target today I had to spend a few more dollars to get my collection. I 'm not much of a gardener but you have to start somewhere! Here's my tomatoes, peppers, grass, and chives :)
